Job Summary:
Responsible for the total preparation of sushi bar and sushi items represented on the menu.
Maintains a clean and organized workstation keeping sanitation and safety as the highest priority.
Prepares items according to proper recipe and portion size outlined within Kobe guidelines.
Deals with guests in a professional, friendly and courteous manner striving for total guest satisfaction.
** Listed Salary Info is our current average hourly pay rate, which includes Kobe base pay for Sushi Chef ($17-$23 per hour) plus shared Service Charge/Tip.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
1.
Responsible for routine cleaning, set up and breakdown of sushi bar.
This includes all preparation required to run sushi station efficiently and smoothly
2.
Prepares all sushi items according to recipes, portion size, presentation and quality standards dictated by the Kobe Japanese Steakhouse
3.
Greet guests in a professional, friendly and courteous manner.
Informs guest of specials and menu changes; makes suggestions and answers questions regarding sushi menu
4.
Keeps track of all sushi items being served to assure they are entered correctly in the POS
5.
Maintains a professional and congenial relationship with customers and provides them with professional, friendly and courteous service
6.
Observes each guest to ensure that they are satisfied with the food service.
Communicates with server to inform them of the customers' needs; helps respond to any additional requests and informs server when the meal has been completed
7.
Throughout shift, maintains a clean and organized workstation keeping sanitation and safety as the highest priority
8.
Assists with the preparation of sushi ingredients when time permits
9.
Keeps Head Chef informed of inventories and immediately reports any defective products and equipment
10.
Follows all federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations outlined by the Managers and the Kobe Employee Handbook
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interact with guest and fellow coworkers
Organized Strong knife skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to multi task and show flexibility during high volume periods.
Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
Education/Qualifications:
Experience in the restaurant industry is a plus
Culinary degree a plus
Obtain approved food handling training required by local laws within 30 days of hire
