SUMMARY:
As a cook in our Community, your responsibilities include preparation and serving of meals, sanitation of food service areas, accurate record keeping, receiving, rotating and inventory of products and regulatory compliance.
You will provide quality dining service by ensuring the food service is presented in an attractive, gracious and timely manner.
Essential Job Functions
Conducts meal preparation, service, and clean-up in accordance with nutritional guidelines, regulations and prescribed resident diets
Assists with weekly menu planning
Communicates with all culinary vendors
Ensures presence and visibility in the dining room for resident satisfaction
Ensures food service is presented in an attractive, gracious and timely manner
Performs pre-preparation for meals later in the day, week, or weekend or for special events
Ensures the proper use of equipment and supplies and upholds cleaning and safety standards
Responds in a timely manner to requests of residents, families and guests
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
Must be able to follow recipes and menus
Must fully understand the importance of reliability and timeliness
Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
SERV Safe Certification
Experience Requirements
Two (2) years’ experience in professional food service preferred
A culinary apprenticeship or training is preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires the ability to stand, reach, bend/stoop/crouch, push/pull/lift/carry up to 50lbs, twisting/ turning and repetitive motion
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Must have good vision, hearing and speech
