Job Title: Software Engineer IV Location: ORLANDO, FL 32826 US (Primary) Job Type: Full-time Job Description *SUMMARY* The Software Engineer IV is responsible for contributing to technical research, analysis, and development of the U.
S.
Navy Learning Stack (LS) program.
The LS is an Information Technology (IT) portfolio of software applications and productivity tools supporting the Naval Education and Training (NETC) mission, providing capabilities to manage and deliver training to Active Duty and Reserve Sailors.
The Software Engineer IV will be collaborating closely with Information Architects, Senior Developers, and Product Owners to address user needs, and working alongside Creative Technologists to ensure effective, functional solutions while preserving design integrity across all project phases.
The Software Engineer IV is also involved in the managing and customizing of the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline with proficiency in an array of cutting-edge tools and technologies, encompassing various software engineering skills.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES* * Perform requirements analysis, design, development, unit and integration testing of software, troubleshooting and debugging of the system.
* Follow Agile software development methodology and implement secure coding principles to ensure robust software security.
* Utilize automated testing frameworks and methodologies to maintain high software quality standards.
* Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout life cycle to identify issues/defects.
* Identify constraints, optimize application performance, pinpoint bottlenecks, and implement performance-enhancing solutions.
* Utilize DevOps tools such as Git for version control, GitLab Ultimate for advanced DevOps capabilities, and Atlassian's suite of products (e.
g.
, Jira and Confluence) for seamless project management and collaboration.
* Assist in the design and implementation of cloud-native infrastructure and deployment.
* Participate in software daily scrums, software peer reviews, design reviews, and demos.
* Collaborating closely with Information Architects, Senior Developers, and Product Owners to address user needs, and working alongside Creative Technologists to ensure effective, functional solutions while preserving design integrity across all project phases.
* Managing and customization of the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline with proficiency in an array of cutting-edge tools and technologies, encompassing various software engineering skills.
* Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* * Must possess and maintain a Secret security clearance (U.
S.
Citizenship required).
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field.
* Must have active DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II or III certification.
* Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience with Agile software development and DevSecOps.
* Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience with Cloud-based technologies.
* Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience with Java.
* Experience with DevOps tools, such as: GitLab, Nexus, Artifactory, Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker, Fortify, Python, Bash, Go, Terraform, and Ansible.
* Strong understanding of concepts in Computer Science (data structures, run time, common algorithms).
* Background developing/debugging and testing of software applications.
*DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS* * Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for scalable and efficient application deployment.
* Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes for deploying and managing applications.
* Ability to create, maintain, and optimize APIs to facilitate seamless integration with external services and systems.
* Demonstrated proficiency working with SQL and NoSQL databases to efficiently manage and optimize data storage and retrieval.
* Cloud certification(s) such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Fundamentals or Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) * Self-starter who is comfortable working with various skill sets including other developers and system engineers.
* Organized and efficient with ability to document all stages of the design solutions.
* Experience in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
).
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES* None.
Job Requirements *WORK SCHEDULE* 40 hours per week.
May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
*TRAVEL* Potential for travel.
When required, employee will need to complete an MVR check.
*DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:* Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy.
Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving.
The expected driving time is less than 25%.
*WORK ENVIRONMENT* Work is expected to be remote; however, the company reserves the right to require onsite work.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS* Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting weights up to 20 pounds.
Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.
