We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This Sr Software Engineer - Project Hire role will be part of our Disney Cruise Line Mobile Applications groups, which is responsible for the products and platforms that support the Disney Cruise Line Mobile Navigator, and will report to the Sr Manager, Technology for Guest Experience Technologies.
This individual will be responsible for translating requirements and user stories into functional software that delivers value to the business.
They will help design, develop, test, and implement sophisticated software for use across our fleet and guests at home.
We are seeking someone that takes an ownership mentality in their delivery and knows how to create phenomenal guest experiences using best practices and reusable architecture.

What You Will Do
Owns the design and development of software fixes, enhancements, components, and/or new software systems and applications.
Participate in software design, coding, code reviews, and assist software architects.
Mentor junior engineers and teach them our engineering methods
Solve problems by collaborating across multiple teams, from product to design.
Recommends improvements to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 5 years of developing Java REST applications for enterprise or consumer use.
Experience working in an Agile Team consisting of product, design, QA and development
Significant knowledge/experience in relevant technologies, such as:
Strong foundation in CS Fundamentals, especially around best practices in code quality and design patterns
Solid understanding in Java 17, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Docker
Networking such as HTTP Protocol and Socket connections
Web Services (SOAP & REST)
Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc.

Experience with Security and OWASP recommendations
Soft skills & other requirements
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
The position requires frequent communication with senior leaders, technical colleagues and partners across several different geographic locations and time zones
Proven ability to work with all members of an extended and diverse project team
Must be diligent, self-organized, be committed to quality and be capable of tracking multiple issues simultaneously
Candidate must have mentoring and guidance skills to provide oversight and direction to contractors and internal members of the software development team
Ability to handle virtual teams and work with resources in multiple sites (onsite, offshore, near shore)
Excellent time management skills
Support on-call response to critical operational issues; be able to work beyond normal hours and support implementation transition activities and hyper-care shifts as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of GraphQL
Experience with database replication across regions or data centers
Previous Cruise Line industry experience
Interest in AI/ML and data science
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
