Tetra Tech is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in one of our Florida or Texas offices, with the ability to work remotely.
The ideal candidate must have strong quantitative skillsets to support various engineering projects in the United States from conceptual planning through to design and construction.
This position will work closely with project managers, engineers, and scientists to support a variety of public (federal, state, local) and private (industrial, utility) clients with general mechanical engineering and plumbing design for a wide range of various projects.
Aquatic amenity design and water treatment experience is a plus.
The successful candidate will work as a team member to support routine and non-routine assignments related to mechanical engineering projects of substantial variety and complexity.

Your Role: Candidate will plan, conduct, and supervise tasks such as pilot tests and treatability studies, engineering designs, construction oversight, operation, and maintenance (O&M), and report writing on projects.
They will perform components of projects in accordance with appropriate state and federal regulations.
This will require reviews of progress and evaluation of results.
The candidate may assist in the preparation of proposals and deliverables.
Responsibilities: • Conduct research related to engineering policies and practices.
• Perform a range of tasks requiring utilization of scientific and engineering analytical techniques, in the development of cost-effective strategies for mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Work and coordinate with project team personnel.
Perform technical functions on projects and possibly direct the technical efforts and guidance on engineering, and construction projects, including CADD/GIS operators, designers, technicians, and field personnel.
• Conduct engineering related calculations and develop solutions for various mechanical engineering projects.
• Conduct data analysis and data quality control of mechanical design data using sound engineering judgement.
• Assist with quality control and assurance.
• Assist in preparation of subcontract specifications, work plans, engineering reports, construction documents (plans and specifications), cost estimates, project documentation and deliverables such as memos.
• Assist in developing descriptive charts, figures/maps, tables/matrices, and presentations.
• Participate in technical presentations with clients.
• Develop an entrepreneurial spirit, working independently to advance project initiatives.
• Manage multiple projects/several independent, concurrent tasks.
• Adhere to established schedules for completing tasks and reports.
Maintain detailed documentation of activities.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience in a mechanical engineering role required.
Master’s degree a plus.
• 4-8 years of experience in the field of mechanical engineering.
• Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Basic understanding of the following areas of mechanical engineering: hydraulics, pumps and piping systems, geochemistry, cost estimation, sampling, environmental regulations, state and federal regulations.
• Professional Engineer License (PE) required.
• Candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Candidates must be highly motivated, self-starters that want to establish a career in engineering consulting.
