Job Summary
The Designer/Drafter I works closely with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical engineers and designers to prepare complete sets of complex drawings which include multiple views, detailed drawings and exploded assembly drawings.
The Drafter will also be required to produce other types of Engineering documents and data including engineering change notices and releases, reports, and design review presentations.
This position requires the drafter to work with other departments to provide engineering documentation and information.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze engineering sketches, designs and drawings to determine drafting requirements
Draft detailed drawings of assemblies, installations and parts as required
Prepare Engineering Change Notices and other engineering documentation
Prepare concepts, cost estimates, design reviews, and complete drawing packages from verbal or written instructions
Prepare estimates and completion schedules for product design projects
Provide technical assistance when issues arise or when new products are released into production
Analyze new and existing products to eliminate design issues in fabrication, assembly, and operation
Exercise independent judgment interpreting data, design intent, design operation, and possible product improvements based on knowledge and experience
Stay current with industry trends, recommending potential improvements or enhancements to JBT AeroTech
Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in and or have completed an AS or AA degree in drafting and design technology within the past 6 months
Basic knowledge and/or experience with heavy equipment in a manufacturing environment or interest in working with heavy equipment
Basic knowledge and/or experience with engineering procedures and process documentation, work aids and work instructions or willingness to learn
Basic knowledge and/or experience with manufacturing/operations processes including one or more of the following: assembly, welding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, heavy plate cutting and or burning, heat treatment, procurement, quality control, painting and material handling
Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment
