SUMMARY The Gas Turbine Fluid Systems Engineer II is a mid-level position.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the majority of these skills in process, piping, equipment, controls, commissioning, and project engineering.
In this multifaceted position, you'll apply engineering principles and experience, work autonomously on regular assignments, hold a degree of technical authority, and undertake progressively challenging tasks under the guidance of senior engineers or management.
In this capacity, your work scope includes service support of existing systems, design modifications to address specific issues, and design of new systems to meet new operating requirements (blended fuel with hydrogen, emission control, alternate fuels, power augmentation, turndown, etc.
).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee design and development of auxiliary systems for combustion turbines, adhering to established standard operating procedures for natural gas, oil, air, hydrogen, steam, and water for both Mitsubishi and Non-OEM units.
Conduct design work for feasibility and detailed engineering studies.
Specify design requirements for vendors to quote and supply components (pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, skids, instrumentation, pipe supports etc.
) ensure compliance with code, contract and internal requirements.
Perform process engineering calculations and documentation.
Perform analysis of flow networks for flow using AFT Arrow and AFT Fathom.
Interpret & develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs using SmartPlant P&ID.
Perform piping engineering calculations and documentation.
Proficiency with 3D pipe modeling software (e.
g.
PDS, PDMS, SP3D, Creo Piping) Proficiency in using data from 3D laser scans to base new designs and avoid clashing.
Proficiency with pipe stress analysis, software (CAESAR II and/or AutoPIPE) and reports.
Perform analysis and selection of pipe supports.
Familiarity with piping materials and classes.
Prepare plot plans, piping arrangements, isometric, construction, and spool drawings for field and shop fabrication.
Support Hazard & Operability Study (HAZOP) review Understand and interoperate ASME B31.
1, B31.
12 and B31.
3 Codes.
Ensure that piping code requirements are correctly defined and incorporated into the design and vendor requirements.
Prepare Bill of Materials [BOM], installation, operation, and training materials Provide site support with operator training, commissioning, and start-up.
Standardize designed auxiliary system products for efficient deployment to other customers.
Support ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts, and where possible, enhance the documentation and configuration control methods in use by the department.
Oversee root cause analysis (RCA) and diagnostic type activities for auxiliary systems resulting from issues occurring in the field during service operation.
Demonstrate proficiency with product life cycle and requirements management tools (Windchill) Demonstrate familiarity with EPC projects and contracts.
Knowledge of gas turbine engineering including overall turbine configuration, gas turbine design, boundary conditions, temperatures and materials.
Some overnight travel (expected 10 to 20%) by land and/or air with some trips lasting two or more weeks (both domestic and international); Perform other such duties as may be required.
