JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing all phases of the project life cycle for every assigned Marquee Event.
Drives the entire project scope, from concept to operation, including but not limited to creative design, production, fabrication, technical integration and installation, costuming and makeup development, and operational requirements.
Informs and advises Senior Leadership on Project status and issues.
Defines and ensures compliance with Universal Orlando policies and Entertainment Creative Development goals and creative intent.
Determines strategies ensuring the successful completion of all tasks and/or assignments through all aspects of design, production, and operation from original concept through project close-out.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Producer is the Responsible Individual for ensuring the Project is successfully established and integrated.
As part of the Project’s leadership team, the Producer is responsible for partnering with the team to develop, review, and manage project plans, scopes, and strategies, ensuring that the creative intent is developed within the Project’s parameters and the Company’s business objectives.
Provides oversight and direction to the Production Manager, who is functioning as the lead estimator for large scopes of work.
Reviews budget estimates for all assigned projects including estimate refinements prepared by the Production Manager and outside estimating firms.
Reviews continually evolving design documents and estimates to ensure the projects are tracking on budget.
Develops conceptual Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for projects prior to and in Blue Sky Phase to develop initial costs for business unit financial analysis.
Creates “value engineering” (VE) components with the project team to mitigate cost overruns.
Develops the production schedule milestone to align with the overall Project goals and strategies.
Monitors for changes or delays to the schedule, and forecasts potential timeline risks.
This includes but is not limited to the evaluation of Contractor’s schedule performance and schedule coordination with other groups and departments.
Acts as a principal point of contact for all assigned projects, and manages, interprets, communicates, and presents Project information to a variety of audiences throughout the Project process.
Leads routine project meetings as required.
Develops and manages the delivery of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies on all aspects of the project.
Provides project touchstones to Sr.
Leadership, including budget trending, milestone progress, defined scope, and risk assessments.
Prepares reporting tailored to relevant audiences to maintain strong positive engagement from all project stakeholders.
Creates initial charter documentation outlining Projects goals, objectives, milestones, staffing plans, topline budget, defined scope, assumptions, and risks.
Manages and interfaces with appropriate internal and external resources through every phase of the project ensuring the highest level of integration into the overall strategic plan for the Resort.
Develops and manages strategic risk mitigation processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Analyzes project trends and projects potential risks, developing mitigation plans as appropriate.
Builds risk awareness amongst the project team and leadership.
Oversees strategic sourcing and staffing plans to support project development and production efforts.
Supports the bidding & awarding of Construction Documents and other work packages.
This includes developing a bidders list and managing the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
Supports and assists the project teams with negotiating and procuring outside resources.
Initiates requests for new Standard Term agreements and reviews the creation of new Work Authorization contracts.
Ensures that staffing and resources are contracted and approved in accordance with approved project budgets and schedules.
Makes employment decisions, including hiring, terminating and promotional recommendations.
Evaluates subordinate staff on creative, technical, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ensures that Project’s Quality Standards consistently align with the Project’s creative intent.
This includes regular walks through the production sites to monitor progress and developments to ensure that the work being accomplished is in accordance with the contract documents.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years Production Management experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.
