JOB SUMMARY: Provides sustaining engineering support in the day-to-day park operation and basic mechanical support for Ride and Show systems.
This includes, but is not limited to downtime recovery, troubleshooting, fault analysis, redesign assignments, test and start-up integration of Ride and Show systems.
On call 24/7 and carries an engineering duty phone on rotational basis to facilitate engineering maintenance support per departmental guidelines.
All work shall be in conformance with ASTM F24 Committee guidelines and compliant with applicable codes, regulations and standards including: AISC, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, JIC, NEC, and OSHA, among others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts fault identification and analysis to facilitate downtime recovery of the day-to-day operations of UO parks by assisting senior level engineers and maintenance staff.
Provides basic design and maintenance support for all UO attractions.
Implements solutions to improve operational reliability, safety, and serviceability of Ride & Show equipment through improved diagnostics, technician training, and Preventative Maintenance improvement, under guidance of senior engineers.
Modifies design and supports programming of Ride and Show system equipment for projects assigned from Engineering Management.
Coordinates assigned engineering activities between ride planners, ride supervisors, ride managers, and ride technicians.
Provides project status of assigned task list items to the appropriate ride manager and engineering management on a regular basis.
Maintains configuration management of controls hardware and software (drawings) documentation in accordance with Engineering’s guidelines and procedures for proper archiving and security.
Assists senior level Engineers with development of Acceptance Test Procedures on control systems.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE: Responsible for providing controls engineering support for assigned Ride & Show systems (both parks) daily, and on-call as assigned by Engineering Management.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering required.
EXPERIENCE: 0 – 3 years experience in control systems and installation utilizing PLC’s, ladder logic and variable frequency drives in a theme park or equivalent environment required.
0 – 3 years’ field experience of theme park technical fault analysis/isolation experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Preferred Knowledgeable in ASTM and F24 standards.
Experience in the design of safety critical systems.
Experience with servo controls as applied to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromotive motion control systems.
Experience utilizing the following products and networks: Anitech and Gilderfluke show system controllers.
1305 and 1336 variable frequency drives, Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet, DMX and MPTE and SMPTE.
PLC-5, SLC-500, ControlLogix, CompactLogix.
PanelBuilder 1400E, PanelBuilder32, RSView 32, RSLinx, RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000 and RSNetworx.
Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and software.
AC and DC motors and motor control systems.
Required “Hands-on” experience with PLC and automated control systems.
Experience with motor control centers, motor starters and variable speed drives.
Knowledge of a high-level programming language (“C”, Visual Basic or JAVA).
Knowledge of generation of control system specifications, acceptance test procedures.
Knowledge of electrical standards UL 508A, NFPA and NEC.
