SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Security Software Engineer to join a dynamic and mission oriented team.
This position is remote.
The candidate will support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of Space Commerce (OSC), requires system integration and cloud management for the Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS).
The TraCSS will be developed to help relevant US government agencies to begin re-assigning many aspects of space traffic management (STM) and space traffic coordination (STC) serving non-military US space operators.
TraCSS is the Department of Commerce's enterprise solution for ingesting, archiving, processing, and disseminating Space Situational Awareness (SSA) data and products.
TraCSS will provide conjunction analysis and warning services to commercial satellite owner/operators to foster economic growth and technological advancement of the U.
S.
commercial space industry.
The system will store data from the Department of Defense (DOD), NOAA, commercial SSA data providers, commercial and civil satellite Owner/Operators (O/O) and select international civil partners.
Role Responsibilities:
Responsible for detecting and mitigating insecure features and malicious activities within networks and infrastructure.
Implement security controls, develop customized application security assessments for asset risk and policy compliance as well as conduct vulnerability assessment.
Have an advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements.
Be familiar with data-centric systems, cloud computing, open-source software, containerized microservices, and DevSecOps.
Develop, review and validate ATOs for existing and new Information Systems
Develop, review and validate software applications in current Information Systems
Apply a combination of expert engineering knowledge of enterprise IT and security solutions to design, develop and/or implement cyber security solutions.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more related experience
Required Experience:
Bachelors degree and 5 years of progressive experience in cyber systems design, integration and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes; In lieu of bachelors 8+ years of experience is acceptable.
Proven work experience as an Engineering Security Specialist or similar role
Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data and other attack artifacts
Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions
Proficiency with antivirus and security software
Experience with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) protocols
Knowledge of FedRAMP and FISMA requirements
Knowledge of data encryption techniques
Experience with hardened containers and VM images
Understanding of agile software development practices and procedures

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000.
The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
