Are you a seasoned IT professional experienced with cloud technologies, automation and ITSM processes? QTC, a Leidos company, seeks an IT Infrastructure Engineer, Sr Stf - Cloud and Automation with a “think outside of the box” mindset to bring innovation with automation for on premise and cloud workloads and infrastructure as a whole.
This remote opportunity is available for candidates based in Eastern Time Zone.

The IT Infrastructure Engineer Sr Stf will be responsible for designing, creating, maintaining, and supporting existing and future IT infrastructure in the areas of systems, cloud, scripting, automation, and IT Service Management (ITSM) for QTC.
You will also function as the primary technical liaison between Infrastructure and other IT teams, vendors and partners, as well as the business to design infrastructure solutions.
This role will be a combination of technical hands-on and soft skills such as building technical project plans, design, and transition of service to operational steady state.
The role will be considered a driver of technology and forward thinking.
In this role, you will: Implement advance IT infrastructure technology as required.
Lead technical implementations in the area of automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration, both on premise and in the cloud.
Be part of a team responsible for delivering innovative technologies and infrastructure improvements through automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps methodologies.
Work closely with team to understand business requirements and translate them to technical specifications; develop project plans, procure resources, monitor progress, and provide regular status reports to IT management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy on-prem and cloud-based applications and services.
Act as a technical liaison between QTC IT and parent company, Leidos to ensure technical solutions are documented and compliant with QTC/Leidos security and compliance requirements, as well as policies and procedures.
Assist in the hiring, evaluating, coaching/mentoring of other engineers, all of which will be will be done in conjunction with leadership as necessary.
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices related to cloud operations and automation and continuously strive to improve and enhance the service offering.
Develop new and maintain existing documentation for technology designs, as well as on-going operational and administrative procedures Help spearhead development through scripting, workflow design and repeatable automation using standard tools.
Work closely with the ITSM team to understand how to automate repeated tasks and drive integrations between QTC ticketing system and various tools to automatically resolve them.
Focus on service orientation “as a service” for our products on how design, deploy and support.
You’ll bring the following skills/competencies: Hands-on knowledge of cloud operations in one or more cloud environment with advanced skills in at least one cloud platform (Azure preferred or AWS).
Have scripting skills in at least one language, i.
e.
, Python, Node.
js, Ruby, PowerShell, Bash, etc.
Will be an automation advocate - you truly believe in removing operation load with software.
Ability to automate manual processes and write code to expedite detection and mitigation of issues in the environment.
Background in system administration and operations, including Windows and Linux operating systems and networking fundamentals Have experience using ITIL processes, ideally managed using ServiceNow.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to utilize discretion and independent judgment to switch between priorities quickly without affecting quality or performance Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work with minimal supervision Think outside the box mindset Willing to ask the hard questions and learn new skills/processes Have an engineering mindset while designing, rolling out new service/product and providing T3 support Solid organization and planning skills, with strong attention to detail Must possess the ability and flexibility to work extra hours and weekends if required Might be required to support 24x7 operations and be part of an on call rotation Ability and desire to take ownership of work assignments and drive tasks to completion Any hands on experience with the Azure/AWS CLI and SDKs/API tools or coding experience highly desired.
Knowledge of virtualization technologies, hypervisors, VMware and related technologies preferred Understanding of agile project methodologies using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or similar Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field w/ 13 years of experience designing and implementing technology solutions or Master's Degree w/ 11 years of related experience.
Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 14 years of industry relevant experience.
5 to 8 years of experience designing and supporting cloud technologies in Azure and/or AWS environments.
3 to 5 years of experience with scripting, automation tools, DevOps or other automation technologies 1 to 3 years of experience in a leadership (team lead) or a management role Cloud or relevant technical certifications, AWS Architect or Azure Administrator or Architect Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation Pay and Benefits: Salary range $140,000 – $190,000 The QTC Management pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
