POSITION SUMMARY:
The Software Developer III is responsible for maintaining and enhancing custom built applications that support all areas of RSR Group’s business processes.
This position works with the business units to define user requirements and employs the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes of analysis, design, testing and implementation to ensure quality products are delivered.
REGULAR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, installs, and tests software components.
Understands short- and long-term organizational objectives, and ensures software aligns with those objectives.
Consults with business unit to gather requirements and understand business processes.
Analyzes requirements and translates business requirements into product designs.
Analyzes code to find causes of errors and implement fixes to the existing code base.
Designs and codes screen layouts, reports and system interfaces.
Handles complex issues and problems, and refers the more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Creates test data and performs extensive unit testing to ensure programs meet specifications as well as implementation of a quality deliverable.
Writes technical documentation and user documents for new features.
Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding issues or questions about a particular feature.
Trains end-users or technical support staff to understand system functionality.
Installs programs and performs post-mortem verification on production server.
Provides support that includes on call responsibilities on a rotating schedule.
Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
In-depth knowledge of modern HTML7/CSS3.
Strong knowledge and experience with: Python (Django), PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL/MySQL, React.
Adequate knowledge of Relational Database systems, Object Oriented Programming, and Web application development.
Ability to create and modify shell scripts.
Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools.
Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires an undergraduate degree in a related field.
Substantial experience and knowledge in IT can replace the educational requirement.
This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The Software Developer III must be able to manage multiple priorities and have strong organization and analytical skills.
Other requirements include coding experience, knowledge of Linux as well as Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
