Our company seeks a trustworthy CDL driver to transport goods from our home Office location to our stores located in the North, Central, and Southeast Florida regions.
As one of our drivers, you will have the opportunity to visit diverse locations across Florida.
Aside from daily reports to our distribution manager, you will enjoy freedom and independence on the road.
If you demonstrate continued success, you will also get the chance to undergo additional paid training that opens the door to more diverse work opportunities.
Compensation: $50,000 PER YEAR Job Responsibilities * Perform safety checks of brakes, steering column, lights, and mirrors before each leg of the journey to ensure road readiness.
* Follow and maintain loading protocols, using straps and tarps to secure cargo, and re-checking their stability throughout trips.
* Inspect trucks and trailers before and after loading, paying attention to cargo positions and adjusting them, as necessary.
* Visit weigh stations before and after packing to ensure that loads meet state safety regulations, making alterations to loads when required by law.
* Contribute to company data by honestly recording times of delivery and hours worked.
* Reporting all vehicle–related issues for urgent attention, to the Vice President of Operations.
* Assist in unloading cargo when delivery sites are understaffed, maintaining product quality throughout conveyance.
* Operate equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts to facilitate the loading and unloading process.
* Always adhere to traffic safety regulations, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances, and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities.
* Use GPS to stay informed of route information and communicate with supervisors and colleagues using company phones.
* Ensuring routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes or tire rotations, are performed promptly on the delivery vehicle.
* Maintain a clean and organized truck, inside and out.
* Drive long-haul runs between Stores and job sites.
* Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, and delivery receipts.
* Perform regular safety inspections of equipment in keeping with company policy and procedures, and OSHA standards.
* Communicate professionally with General Store Manager, by phone if you will be late for a scheduled drop-off or pickup.
* Follow a schedule of weekly recurring local runs between Stores and off-site jobs.
* Count product during loading and/or unloading.
* Follow company policies and procedures related to driver safety, performance, and conduct Job Skills & Qualifications Required * Minimum age requirement age 21 * High school diploma or GED * Valid CDL license, with a clean driving record for at least 3 years * Two years of experience working as a CDL driver with no legal or safety incidents on record * Certification of professional truck driving educational program.
* Ability to operate and maintain commercial vehicles safely and effectively.
* Physical fitness and the ability to lift 75 lbs.
and move heavy cargo as needed.
* Minimum 2 years experience with over-the-road trucking, preferably in FL * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing paperwork and logs.
* Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning software * 1 year of experience hauling flatbed units on local runs required * Drug screening and background check pass * Availability on Monday - Friday, willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules.
* English proficiency.
* Work authorization (required) Weekly day range: * Monday- Friday Physical requirements: Able to work in indoor/outdoor conditions.
Able to lift 25 to 65 lbs.
