*Job Summary:* Highly Qualified Science Teacher for 2024-25 Academic Year.
*QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:* *Minimum Qualifications* Possess (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field.
Eligible or possess Florida (or any State) Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Science courses.
Possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and administration.
*Other Requirements:* Possess effective classroom management skills as it relates to safe learning environment, discipline, and assessment.
Discover and develop special talents of students in the field of Science to help them to reach their highest potential in class and extracurricular activities.
Prepare each student to meet the Florida Department of Education Science Standards.
Have the ability to be flexible in working with students at all developmental levels.
Have skills in human relations and conflict management.
*PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:* *Essential Duties* 1.
Teach courses in related science course to the students, utilizing course of study adopted by the District, FL State and other appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
2.
Ensure that all experiments are trialed beforehand and risk assessment used with all experimental work.
3.
Adapt scientific concepts and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
4.
Develop lesson plans to demonstrate the science course concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids, accommodations which ESE and section 504 students need.
5.
Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
6.
Design learning activities that will relate the science to the physical world.
7.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe classroom environment.
8.
Evaluate academic and social growth of students; keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
9.
Supervise and check homework daily, ensure students’ academic progress and serve as a primary point of contact for parents.
10.
Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
11.
Evaluate each student’s progress in meeting the course standards.
12.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
13.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and attitude problems.
14.
Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
15.
Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day.
16.
Participate in staff meeting and the sponsorship of student activities.
17.
Administer testing in accordance with division testing practices.
18.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.
