*Biologist II- Field Operations* _We are searching for an experienced Biologist II- Field Operations as a full-time Regular Employee at the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District!_ *Position Summary:* Perform duties to collect, analyze and document water, soil, sediment and waste samples, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
*Essential Functions:* * Prepare various bottles and equipment for collecting samples.
Add chemicals to some bottles and label accordingly.
Document data related to bottles in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) prior to field collection activities.
Calibrate the meters used in field collection and log the calibration.
* Accumulate collection equipment including prepared bottles, coolers, PH strips, gloves, meters, laptop and other items necessary to collect and analyze samples in the field.
Utilize boat, 4WD vehicle, or other transportation to get to assigned collection locations.
* Collect samples of soil, water, sediment, industrial waste and other related materials.
Assess and document collection habitat.
Conduct prescribed field analysis and document the findings in LIMS.
Conduct all activities in compliance with FDEP regulations and SOPs.
* Preserve samples in iced cooler for transportation to the laboratory for further analysis.
* Transport samples to laboratory and run prescribed tests.
Document results and activities in LIMS.
* Conduct preventive maintenance on boats, trailers, field equipment and vehicles.
Decontaminate sampling equipment.
*Other Duties:* * Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
* Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
*Competency:* * Knowledge of FDEP regulations and SOPs for sample collection.
*Education/Experience Requirements:* * Bachelor degree in Biology or related physical or natural science.
* Minimum one year of experience in sample collection and chemical analysis.
* Regular, dependable attendance required.

*The wage range for this position is $* *44,657.
00 - * *59,542.
