I am a luthier who scratch builds acoustic guitars.
Before that I built a few electrics from quality kits and have since sold them all, except for this P-bass.
I am downsizing and don't have room for all my guitars so I am offering this Fender P-bass style custom bass.
I built it using a licensed Fender neck and a Solo custom P-bass body.
It has Grover tuners and D'Marzio Will Power pickups, with Emerson P-bass electronics and an upgraded bridge/saddle.
This is a great bass, but it was early in my finishing so up close you can see what is called "orange peel" finish, that is not really visible from 6 feet.
It has a candy apple red finish, made by a flat-white base coat, a light silver fleck over-finish, followed by Cherry red color coat and several coats of clear nitrocellulose lacquer.
It plays great, sounds great, and would make a great gig bass, and will compete head-to-head with Fender basses.
If you have the interest, the finish can be upgraded with a wet, level sanding, then a couple of light coats of
clear lacquer (I will provide the rattle cans), then let it set and cure for a few weeks, with a final high-grit level sand, and then buffing with consecutively higher grits of sandpaper or micro-mesh to get a great gloss.
It isn't necessary, but could improve the up-close look.
The neck cost nearly $400, let alone the electronics, bridge, grover tuners, and the Will Power pickups.
I don't have a case.
