Apogee Sound International APL-500 PA speaker - $60 (Grand Island)

For sale is a project Apogee Sound International APL-500 PA speaker.
The built-in power amp has been removed and has NO replacement speaker level crossover installed.
The woofer has been changed out to a new 350 watt peak rated MCM Audio Select/Multicomp Pro 55-2952 12” woofer.
The compression driver has also been changed out to an Eminence PSD2002S-8 1-3/8”-18 compression driver.
Both drivers test fine and are in like new condition.
The Apogee proprietary radial/sectoral horn is original, and is an excellent 1” 2-bolt design horn design.
A 2-bolt to 1-3/8”-18 adapter has been installed to adapt to the Eminence compression driver.
This unique speaker is extremely well built, and is heavier and more solid than any other pro audio speaker of its size that I’m aware of.
It resembles a high-end home speaker in this regard.
It has multiple fly points, pole mounting, and steel corner guards.
Yes, this is a project speaker, but it’s also a super-solid, heavily braced, twin ported cabinet from one of the most respected high-end pro audio companies.
The horn and drivers would make very good car speakers if that’s your inclination.
Just to let you know, pro audio PA speakers like this are very good workshop and party speakers.
