*Position: Cabinet Finisher (Painter)*
The Cabinet Finisher provides assistance to the Shop Manager in production in the scenic paint shop.
This role helps to coordinate work between the millwork shop and paint shop, completes daily and weekly work in the scenic paint shop, and confirms design appearances (surface color and texture) for the approved work.
The Cabinet Finisher is responsible for making sure all assigned production is completed safely, efficiently, in a timely manner, and confirms the quality of the final product meets company standards.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Must have understanding of different type of paint products used for a wide range of surfaces, finishes, etc.
(i.
e.
wood, metal, plastics, fiberglass).
* Experience with finishing raw wood products with stain and clear finishes; ability to employ combinations of spray, paint, finishing compound, stains, and other materials until a result is reached that meets the client’s design/finish intent.
* Ability to use different techniques such as sponging, distressing, strippling and color blocking to create decorative and faux finishes; finishes may often require the use of washes, glazes, and layering.
* Ability to replicate paint samples and swatches and prepare a detailed operating procedure or log, to duplicate the paint procedure and steps, for future preparation/use.
* Labels paint and other supplies and keeps track of essential paint tools, supplies and inventories.
* Ability to examine existing fixtures to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and to decide on the best method for repair or restoration; ability to fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts using plastic, wood putty or glue.
* Ensures that proper safety practices and procedures are used, including proper disposal of hazardous/toxic liquids or materials.
* Completes tasks and responsibilities assigned.
* Meets deadlines on a schedule for completion of each project.
