Who You Are… As VDC Specialist II, you will be counted on to provide vast industry knowledge/leadership skills and lead the BIM coordination efforts on assigned projects.
This role is responsible for working with the VDC Manager to implement project expectations, requirements, and milestones as defined by the project team.
In addition, you are responsible for identifying, monitoring, and resolving project issues to provide visibility of a project’s performance.
This role is expected to produce accurate installation documents to be utilized in HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, or Electrical-related projects.
This Position… Some examples of the work you might do includes: Creates VDC models of complex HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, or Electrical for project use.
Ensures trade model services are accurate to project specifications.
Leads BIM coordination efforts, as primary and/or subcontractor role Leads and directs the work of VDC Detailers/VDC Specialists on assigned projects.
Thoroughly reviews their shop/fab drawings and related documents for completeness and accuracy.
Interprets blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
Extensive knowledge producing accurate shop, penetration, layout, and fabrication drawings that are utilized in HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, or Electrical-related projects.
Supports assigned projects specific specialists by reviewing deliverables on project including shop/fabrication drawings for consistent quality control.
Leverages their Industry/Software knowledge to support the work of the VDC team on any given project.
Acts as a point of contact for escalating or resolving project-related questions for parties inside and outside of the company.
Communicates issues/needs associated with the database to the Database/VDC Manager.
Has the ability to resolve general IT/programming issues on an as needed basis.
Helps develop and enforce “best practice” installation methods, and shares them with internal peers.
Prioritizes and encourages safety while executing work tasks, especially when at a construction site.
All other duties as assigned.
What You Need… 3-5 years of industry-specific experience.
Familiarity with applicable plumbing and mechanical building codes and safety laws.
Advanced-level knowledge of AutoCad, Revit, and Navisworks.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular).
Ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with diverse audiences.
Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
Capacity to effectively work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, as business needs dictate.
This position regularly requires local travel to attend meetings and conduct site visits.
Out-of-town travel may occasionally be required.
Preferred Qualifications: Trade school completion or Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred.
Trade experience in HVAC or plumbing construction in commercial buildings.
Knowledge of Autodesk fabrication products.

Physical Demands: In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
This is considered a sedentary position, which means possible exertion up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
